Dr. John M. Hartinger is a Minnesota-born educator, pastor, public servant, business leader, and author whose life reflects a remarkable journey from humble beginnings to leadership in ministry, education, government, and the business community.

John began his higher education at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Minnesota, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. He continued his theological education at Calvary Theological Seminary in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and Central Seminary in Minneapolis, Minnesota, further developing his academic and theological foundation. He eventually completed his graduate education at Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree and Ph.D. in Philosophy.

His education was accompanied by hard work and practical experience. John worked his way through school as a house painter, learning early the value of discipline, perseverance, craftsmanship, and earning a living through his own efforts. Those early experiences helped shape a philosophy that would remain with him throughout his life: that meaningful accomplishments are built through hard work, persistence, integrity, and a willingness to begin wherever an opportunity presents itself.

His vocational journey eventually led him into education, where he served as a junior and senior high school teacher. At the same time, John pursued his calling to ministry, serving as the pastor of a church in northern Minnesota. His years in the classroom and the pulpit gave him an opportunity to work directly with people, teach, mentor, lead, and develop a lifelong commitment to serving others.

John’s commitment to public service eventually led him into Minnesota state government, where he served as a State Representative in the State of Minnesota. His experience in education, ministry, and community leadership provided a broad perspective as he became involved in the legislative and public-policy process.

Following his legislative service, John continued his involvement in public affairs as a lobbyist and later served in development and leadership with the Greater Minnesota Association of Evangelicals. These experiences placed him at the intersection of government, public policy, nonprofit leadership, and community development, further expanding his understanding of leadership and organizational growth.

His transition into the business world began with remarkably modest circumstances. John did not begin with a large corporation, substantial investment portfolio, or established business empire. Instead, his entrepreneurial journey began with the purchase of a small paint store in a rented storefront.

That modest beginning became the foundation for something much larger.

Through hard work, business discipline, perseverance, calculated risk-taking, and an ability to recognize opportunities, John gradually expanded beyond that first small business. Over the years, he acquired and developed multiple commercial and residential properties in two states, building a substantial real estate and business portfolio from the foundation of that first small enterprise.
